Purpose of Study Tips Blog

Studying?????  What?  How?  When?  Why?  PANIC!!!!
Good study habits can be difficult to develop with no support.  Believe it or not, developing sound study habits is the result of diligence and planning.  After all, if you  fail to plan, you plan to fail.  I don't know who said that, but it is so true.  We've all, no doubt, struggled with studying at some time.  The purpose of this blog is to help support the development of strong and relevant study habits.  The goal of developing strong study habits can include performing a job more effectively, getting a better grade, accomplishing a task with greater efficiency, and/or even eliminating pressure while completing a task.

Unfortunately, many school districts do not spend the kind of time helping students develop and internalize strong study habits for numerous reasons.  As an former teacher, I did not do much in this area to help the high school students in my classes.  As a former administrator, it was not until I started getting involved in the transition of the 8th graders to high school that I realized the critical nature of educating students in the area of development of study habits.  I just thought kids would "figure it out."  What a naive way to think.

This blog will offer numerous study tips in order to help provide building blocks to stronger study habits.  The bottom line, though, is that failure to practice a study tip and develop it into a habit, will not result in improved performance.  It is only by developing a habit and internalizing that habit will a better performance result.

I am available for support.  Please contact me for suggestions on strategies or for tutorial support in the areas of English, science, and social studies (content).
